A North 91原创 musician and educator is giving fellow 91原创 Mattea Roach a run for their money, as Caitlyn Hayes competes on Jeopardy! Monday night (April 18).

Hayes will look to stop the nine-game winning streak of Roach, who on Friday became the highest winning 91原创 in Jeopardy! history, with a total of $210,802 in prize money.

While rare to have two 91原创 contestants on the long-running game show’s docket, it’s not unprecedented. In 2018, Ali Hasan from B.C. was defeated by Ontario’s Jordan Nussbaum.

Hayes is originally from 91原创 Island and studied at the University of Victoria. She has worked across Canada as a pianist, music director, actor and singer.

Working for a while in Toronto and since coming back to the Lower Mainland, Hayes has been working as an accompanist at Capilano University’s Musical Theatre program, and accompanist and assistant conductor for the adult community choir Burstin’ With Broadway.

Hayes is also the musical director for the Kay Meek Arts Centre senior conservatory, which is currently working on 13, a musical from composer Jason Robert Brown, set to be performed at the beginning of August.
