The Victoria Symphony will kick off its 2019-2020 pops concerts on Saturday and Sunday with a unique collaboration.

Principal pops conductor Sean O鈥橪oughlin and Ballet Victoria artistic and executive director Paul Destrooper are the co-creators of A Fantasia of Dance, combining the talents of dancers from Ballet Victoria and musicians from the Symphony. Music ranges from Fantasia and Romeo and Juliet to O鈥橪oughlin鈥檚 own creation inspired by the book The Art of Racing in the Rain. Destrooper鈥檚 dancers will be backed by Wagner鈥檚 Ride of the Valkyries and Debussy鈥檚 Clair de Lune, among other pieces.

Performances take place at the Royal Theatre at 8 p.m. on Saturday and at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets start at $35 and are available from the Royal Theatre box office (250-386-121) or online from rmts.bc.ca.
