Victoria Symphony announces second half of its virtual season

The Victoria Symphony will continue its 2020-21 virtual season with a slate of online concerts every two weeks until the end of June. The 12-concert season, announced Monday, gets underway Thursday, Jan.

The Victoria Symphony will continue its 2020-21 virtual season with a slate of online concerts every two weeks until the end of June.

The 12-concert season, announced Monday, gets underway Thursday, Jan. 7, with Debussy & Ravel: 脌 la Fran莽aise, a selection of 19th century French classics conducted by Giuseppe Pietraroia.

The season-long series featuring Victoria Symphony musicians performing in a socially-distanced setting also includes the highlights Shostakovich Chamber Symphony (Feb. 4), Mozart Horn Concertos (April 15), and Victoria Goes Broadway (May 27).

Guests include conductor Sean O鈥橪oughlin, Terence Tam, Lorraine Min, and Jeanne Lamon, among others.

鈥淲e are determined to make this one of the most successful virtual seasons in Canada,鈥 maestro Christian Kluxen said in a statement from his home in Denmark. 鈥淲e are enjoying learning new things, reconnecting with our current audience, and engaging with new audiences from all over the world.鈥

The concerts will be presented free of charge on Donations 鈥 in lieu of purchasing a ticket 鈥 are encouraged.
