UVic student Rachel Lachmansingh finalist for CBC Poetry Prize

University of Victoria student Rachel Lachmansingh is a finalist for the 2022 CBC Poetry Prize, the country’s top poetry honour.

The fourth-year writing student from Toronto, who was also long-listed for the 2022 CBC Short Story Prize, received $1,000 from the Canada Council for the Arts for the honour, and had her work been published on CBC Books.

She received the nod for From the Mouth. Brad Aaron Modlin (Guelph, Ont.), Luka Poljak (91原创), Kerry Ryan (Winnipeg), and Bren Simmers (Charlottetown) were also named finalists for the award, the winner of which will be announced Nov. 24.

The prize winner will also receive $6,000 from the Canada Council for the Arts and will attend a two-week writing residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts and Creativity.
