Victoria offers youth songwriting workshop with Kathryn Calder

Group workshops and one-on-one sessions with singer-songwriter Kathryn Calder are available for select musicians between the ages of 14 and 24, thanks to a City of Victoria initiative.

Group workshops and one-on-one sessions with singer-songwriter Kathryn Calder are available for select musicians between the ages of 14 and 24, thanks to a City of Victoria initiative.

Calder, the city鈥檚 current artist in residence, will host three online group workshops and two online one-on-one sessions about the art of songwriting throughout the month of April. The Juno Award nominee and singer-keyboardist with the New Pornographers will teach students about composing, arrangement, and performance. Calder鈥檚 husband, Juno Award-winning producer Colin Stewart, will also join in for discussions about production.

The workshops are open to youths in the Capital Regional District. Applications must be completed by March 8 at 6 p.m. An information session providing details about the program will be held Feb. 18 at 5:30 p.m. To register, email [email protected].
