Handel鈥檚 Messiah is heading to homes around Greater Victoria on Saturday night, thanks to the Sooke Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus.
The community orchestra will stage two choruses from the Christmastime favourite during its virtual Christmas concert, which involved each singer and player recording their parts independently. The assembled video will be broadcast on at 7:30 p.m., with Nicholas Fairbank conducting upward of 50 participants.
The repertoire includes the choruses And the Glory of the Lord and His Yoke Is Easy, both from Part 1 of Messiah.
鈥淭his virtual concert is a way of music-making together under the present circumstances,鈥� Fairbank said. 鈥淲e鈥檙e creating a performance that can reach far and wide, bringing joy to families this holiday season.鈥�
Donations the the Sooke Philharmonic Ochestra and Chorus are encouraged. Contributions over $25 will receive a tax receipt.
