Victoria鈥檚 oldest professional theatre company is turning back the clock and returning to its original downtown neighbourhood on July 1.

Victoria鈥檚 Kaleidoscope Theatre for Young People is headed to a new home at 613 Pandora Ave., a short walk from where the company staged their first production on Broad Street almost 50 years ago. The company, which was founded in 1973, has been based in Gordon Head for the past several years.

The two-storey heritage building across from Centennial Square will house rehearsal studios and Kaleidoscope Theatre鈥檚 youth theatre school. While performances by the company will still take place across the street at the McPherson Playhouse, the return of Kaleidoscope Theatre to a central location will ensure the company鈥檚 long-term health, said executive director Pat Rundell.

鈥淏eing away from downtown has not always made people aware that we鈥檙e still around,鈥 he said.
