A Victoria speaking engagement by author Jordan Peterson — tickets to which ran as high as $608.50 for a VIP meet and greet package — has been cancelled.
It was announced in October that Peterson, 62, would bring his We Who Wrestle With God Tour to the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre on March 31. The tour stop in Victoria was recently cancelled by promoter Live Nation, for unspecified reasons.
The Edmonton-born Peterson appeared at the arena for a sold-out lecture in 2023, which drew a response from a group of University of Victoria students protesting the author’s opposition to Bill C-16, an amendment to the 91Ô´´ Human Rights Act that addressed gender identity.
Peterson also recently clashed with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and announced Dec. 6 on his daughter’s podcast that he now resides in the United States, citing personal and professional reasons for leaving Canada.
Tickets for the canceled appearance bought over the phone or internet will be automatically refunded within 10 business days, according to the arena. Tickets bought in-person at the arena box office can be refunded at the point of purchase.
