Islander long-listed for photo prize

Comox native Shannon Bool has made the long list of nominees for the 2019 Scotiabank Photography Award, which comes with a $50,000 cash prize and a solo exhibition during the 2020 Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival.

Comox native Shannon Bool has made the long list of nominees for the 2019 Scotiabank Photography Award, which comes with a $50,000 cash prize and a solo exhibition during the 2020 Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival.

The ninth annual contemporary photography award is a peer-nominated and peer-reviewed honour. The shortlist will be announced on March 21, with the winning artist to be revealed May 7. The winner will also have a book of photography published and distributed worldwide by Steidl.

Bool, who lives in Berlin, attended the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in 91原创. Her work is in collections at Frankfurt鈥檚 Museum f眉r Moderne Kunst, New York City鈥檚 Metropolitan Museum of Art and the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa. Bool can be found at artsy.net.
