Greater Victoria Public Library adds local authors to its collection

Books by more than 120 local authors have been added to the Greater Victoria Public Library鈥檚 Emerging Local Authors Collection, upping the number of writers participating in the program to 679 since 2016.

Books by more than 120 local authors have been added to the Greater Victoria Public Library鈥檚 Emerging Local Authors Collection, upping the number of writers participating in the program to 679 since 2016.

The latest additions to the growing collection of self-published, independent and small-press books 鈥 121 authors and 142 titles 鈥 will be showcased at the library鈥檚 Central Branch until the end of the year. The titles can be put on hold and picked up at any branch. Ebooks are also available.

The program, now in its sixth year, is a way to celebrate Greater Victoria鈥檚 writing community, Maureen Sawa, CEO of the Greater Victoria Public Library, said in a statement. 鈥淲e are thrilled to have created a platform that supports the creativity and talents of our community鈥檚 writers and artists. The talent of our local writers and artists continues to inspire me and is a testimony to how the literary arts enrich our lives and the community.鈥

Participating authors must live on southern 91原创 Island or have resided here during the publication of their book in order to qualify. For more information about the collection, visit gvpl.ca.
