A day for birders at Island View Beach
Birders looking to enjoy a day in nature during what appears to be a somewhat rain-free long weekend should be attuned to the event at Island View Beach Regional Park on Saturday.
Naturalists with CRD Regional Parks will be at the popular beach in Central Saanich to help attendees with a self-guided walk about birding.
Information panels will give bird enthusiasts tips on what to look and listen for when identifying the birds in the area. The one-kilometre walk begins near the picnic shelter by Homathko Drive. Parks representatives will be on hand to assist between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
The compact gravel trail has no incline and is fit for walkers of all speeds and abilities. There is an accessible washroom and accessible parking spots at the main parking lot. Organizers ask for pets to be left at home.
CRD Regional Parks can be reached at 250-478-3344.
