Victoria native Kimberly Persona has earned two Daytime Emmy Award nominations for children’s programming for Miss Persona, the Treehouse TV series written by and starring the Stelly’s Secondary grad.

Persona, who now lives in Toronto, received nods for outstanding preschool children’s series and outstanding performer in a children’s program. She created the musical character in 2010 when she was living in Victoria, but did not find an audience until long after episodes of the show — which she paid for with her own money — made their way to YouTube in 2012.

Persona joins a list of more than 70 fellow nominees who will receive their awards May 5 during the 46th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards gala at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in California.

CBC led the way this year with 61 nominations, with Netflix close behind with 50. Days of Our Lives, General Hospital and The Young and the Restless received the most nominations.
