Why: Tax donations are being offered by the Victoria Humane Society for those who purchase advance tickets to the fourth annual Naughty List fundraiser, an added bonus given the quality of the local lineup: rockers Stinging Belle and party-starters DJ Anger and DJ Juice. Last year, the event raised $2,500, but organizers are hoping to double that amount for the show this weekend.

Why: The weekly Family Sundays series at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria gets a holiday twist this weekend as Farheen and Cairo Haq and Khalil Akhtar join as special guests. Haq, a multidisciplinary artist raised in Ontario, will be accompanied by her son, Cairo, for an exploration of art, performance, family and food related to the idea of 鈥渉ome.鈥 Akhtar, the radio host and food critic heard on CBC Victoria鈥檚 On The Island, will prepare traditional Pakistani foods for visitors. Why: A trio of guests for this Early Music Society of the Islands presentation will bring a program of festive arias and instrumental works to life on Saturday at St. Andrew鈥檚 Presbyterian Church. Material from Baroque masters such as Manfredini, Scarlatti, Torelli, Vivaldi and Bach will be skilfully handled by Toronto violinist Jeanne Lamon, Toronto soprano Rebecca Genge and Seattle trumpet player Kris Kwapis, who will have the backing of the Victoria Baroque Players orchestra for this event.
