Why: 91ԭ College of Performing Arts students in the “Company C” Studio Ensemble will be livestreaming their performances of Paradise Lost eight times over four days this week, starting tonight at 7:30. Playwright Erin Shields’ riff on Adam and Eve and the Fall of Man bounces between the 17th Century and present day, and flips English poet John Milton’s original by making Satan a woman. The Oak Bay school is staging the first student production since the play’s 2018 premiere at the Stratford Festival in Ontario, so this is a rare treat.

MUSIC

What: David Vest’s Down-Home Jazzy-Bluesy Christmas
When: Saturday, Dec. 5, 7:30 p.m.
Tickets: By donation from
Why: If possible, you want to see local favourite David Vest play the piano in the flesh. But a livestream from the stage of Hermann’s Jazz Club will certainly suffice for David Vest’s Down-Home Jazzy-Bluesy Christmas. Vest reportedly has new songs to offer, and you have to assume some songs by Christmas favourite Charles Brown will make it into the set as well. No matter what he plays, the transplant from Birmingham, Alabama (who moved to Victoria in 2004) always hits a home run.
