THEATRE

What: One Man Star Wars Trilogy
Where: Farquhar Auditorium, University of Victoria
When: Saturday, May 4, 7:30 p.m.
Tickets: $32.75 ($22.75 for students/alumni; $12.75 for children) from the University Centre box office (250-721-8480) or from
Why: Not only will Star Wars fans get to see UVic grad Charles Ross do his thing as Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker and the like on Saturday, early birds will also have the opportunity to take in a pre-show panel discussing Star Wars and its cultural impact. Costumes are encouraged (there is a contest with prizes) but that request is a forgone conclusion. Ross brings out the very best in fandom for his 75-minute pop-culture romp, which he has taken to stages across the world.

MUSIC

What: Benjamin Dakota Rogers and Blue Moon Marquee
Where: Upstairs Lounge at Oak Bay Recreation Centre, 1975 Bee St.
When: Saturday, May 4, 7:30 p.m. (doors at 6)
Tickets: $20 at Nicholas Randall (2180 Oak Bay Ave.) and ; $25 at the door
Why: Two red-hot blues acts — an established duo from 91Ô´´ Island and a farm-raised phenom from rural Ontario — co-headline this very appealing bill. Blue Moon Marquee needs no introduction, having wowed local audiences for years. Rogers is coming to the show as somewhat of an unknown entity, however, though his stature will certainly rise immediately afterward. The roots performer has a brand new record out (Better By Now) and the impetus to have his music heard.

MUSIC

What: Adonis Puentes and the Voice of Cuba Orchestra
Where: Capital Ballroom, 858 Yates St.
When: Sunday, May 5, 7 p.m. (doors at 6:30)
Tickets: $22 from , Long & McQuade, Gold Hair Lounge, and Lyle’s Place; $25 at the door
Why: Victoria favourite Adonis Puentes will celebrate in grand fashion at the Capital Ballroom on Sunday with an event that incorporates both live music, dance lessons and a dance competition. Puentes, who was born in Cuba but immigrated to Victoria in 1998, will headline the event with the eight-piece Voice of Cuba Orchestra, showcasing songs from his 2018 recording, Dicen. The night will get underway at 7 p.m. with free dance lessons presented by Salsa Caliente, followed by an amateur salsa dance competition. Puentes and Co. will play two sets of music on what should be a very fun night of culture and music.
