Why: Sidney鈥檚 Michael Kaeshammer will have the Charlie White Theatre at COVID-friendly capacity of 50 people for these sold-out hometown performances, which have been rescheduled for a third and final time. Any concert by the piano-playing wunderkind is well worth the wait. Go on a hunt for tickets to one of his five in-person performances, which will feature saxophonist Steve Hilliam, drummer Geoff Hicks and bassist Peter Dowse. You won鈥檛 be disappointed.

Why: The return of live music to 鈥渢hat bar on Quadra鈥� is upon us. Danezig 鈥� a tribute to Glenn Danzig, the former Misfits frontman 鈥� heads up this four-band bill at Phoenix Bar and Grill, the city鈥檚 new spot for music with an edge now that Logan鈥檚 Pub has closed. Tickets (a portion of which goes to the Indian Residential School Survivors Society) are limited and interest is incredibly high, so plan to arrive early to ensure entry. The punk community always supports its own, which should place this gig high on everyone鈥檚 list.

What: Huli u鈥檛u staluw/Riverbed

Why: A new offsite project by the Nanaimo Art Gallery gets underway Saturday with the first in a series of outdoor workshops and presentations that will move along the city鈥檚 Millstone River through October. The environmentally themed Huli u鈥檛u staluw/Riverbed includes projects and performances by everyone from artists to scientists, including many with Coast Salish roots. Nanaimo鈥檚 Eliot White-Hill Kwulasultun opens the series on Saturday with a storytelling session and welcome ceremony at 12:30 p.m.
