Why: Everything is headed in the right direction for the Consone Quartet, including an endorsement from BBC Radio 3. With repertoire from the Classical and Romantic eras as their focus, these British upstarts have earned across-the-board acclaim, and will be making their Victoria debut Saturday as part of their hotly anticipated inaugural North American tour. The period instrument quartet will perform works by Mozart, Mendelssohn and Haydn during their Victoria debut, which is sure to be among the highlights of the classical music calendar in 2023.

LITTLE WILLY

When: Thursday, Feb. 16, to Sunday, Feb. 19

Tickets: $45 from

Why: Toronto’s Ronnie Burkett is a show-stopping master puppeteer with a reputation for pushing the boundaries of the form. That’s good news for those attending one of his adults-only Little Willy performances set for Intrepid Theatre this week as reviews have been astounding thus far. Burkett, who was last here in 2017, has a new salon-style show in store for fans, with a cast of wacky characters (from burlesque star Dolly Wiggler to has-been actress Esmé Massengill) and an inspired take on Romeo & Juliet on tap. Don’t miss it.
