Gordon Lightfoot's long-delayed Victoria concert takes place Monday. HANDOUT

GORDON LIGHTFOOT

Where: Royal Theatre, 805 Broughton St.

When: Monday, Oct. 24, 8 p.m.

Tickets: Sold out

Why: Gordon Lightfoot’s concert at the Royal Theatre on Monday is sold out, but fans looking for seats will want to exhaust every avenue before giving up on attending the living legend’s upcoming concert. Lightfoot, who turns 84 next month, has had his share of health issues in recent years (a broken wrist caused the folk favourite to postpone his tour and Victoria performance in 2021) so there’s always the possibility it could be the final local concert by the native of Orillia, Ontario. His music remains full of life, however, and songs like Sundown, Early Morning Rain, and Rainy Day People only get better with age. There’s a reason why he lives in the same Toronto neighbourhood as rapper Drake — Lightfoot is that good.

STEVE-O

Where: Royal Theatre, 805 Broughton St.

When: Sunday, Oct. 23, 8 p.m.

Tickets: $59.25 from the Royal McPherson box office at 250-386-6121 or

Why: Only single seats remain for the Sunday show (stunt? performance? gong show?) by Stephen Glover, who is better known as the try-anything madman from the Jackass franchise. The comedian’s Bucket List Tour is advertised as XXX rated, so we can only imagine the videos he’s pre-recorded and will introduce run the gamut, from gut-busting to gross. His need to feed the beast (which, in his case, is video content for social media) can produce some spectacularly over-the-top antics, so expect to be wowed — if not worried for his physical safety. Steve-O also performs two shows Monday at Nanaimo’s Port Theatre, one of which still has tickets available.

DAD’S WAR

Where: Cedar Hill Recreation and Arts Centre, 3220 Cedar Hill Rd.

When: Oct. 26-Nov. 13

Admission: Free

Why: Her family’s Second World War archive is the jumping off point for an intriguing art show by Fran Benton, whose preferred medium — found materials — takes on a new meaning with Dad’s War. Featuring everything from drawings, paintings, sculpture, photographs and video, some of which her parents brought back to Canada from Europe following the war, makes this the perfect exhibit for Remembrance Day. There’s also an opportunity for the public to contribute to the installation. if interested, contact the centre at 250-475-5557.
