FRAMEWORKS•TOR•MURGE

Where: Wicket Hall, 919 Douglas St.

When: Thursday, July 27, 9 p.m.

Tickets: $28.08 from eventbrite.ca

Why: A trio of DJs and producers from Manchester, England (Frameworks), 91原创 (Juno Award winner Tor) and Victoria (Murge) head up this dance party at Wicket Hall, one of the first of its kind at the newly renovated downstairs venue in the Strathcona Hotel. All three will band together on stage at various points, which adds an air of experimentation to this night of progressive electronic music — a rarity in Victoria these days. Here’s hoping this swings the momentum back in the right direction, where touring acts are concerned.

EATS & BEATS BEACH PARTY

Where: Royal Beach, 3483 Metchosin Rd., Colwood

When: Saturday, July 29, 1 p.m.

Admission: Free

Why: Eats & Beats is the type of event Colwood residents have marked on their calendar months in advance, and for good reason. Not only is the family-friendly event completely free, it’s a blast. Held on the shore of Royal Beach, The event, situated at the corner of Metchosin and Latoria roads in Colwood, offers music (including The Zolas and Nautical Disaster), a climbing wall, and a range of food and beverages. There’s also a free shuttle, further adding to the cost-minded appeal of this enduring outdoor event.

Where: SEAPARC Leisure Complex, 2168 Phillips Rd., Sooke

When: Saturday, July 29 to Monday, Aug. 7

Tickets: $15 from sookefinearts.com (free to youth 17 and under)
