Music students at Cloverdale Traditional School in Victoria have won $5,000 worth of instruments in CBC Music鈥檚 91原创 Music Class Challenge.

The national contest staged by CBC Music and the MusiCounts charity awarded prizes in various categories to six schools in Canada on Tuesday.

The Cloverdale Clovers won the Elementary Instrumental prize for their cover version of Serena Ryder鈥檚 What I Wouldn鈥檛 Do. Under the tutelage of music teacher Fiona Jones and school parent Fraser Campbell, the band of students from Grades 2 through 5 dedicated lunch hours and recesses over a three-month period to learning the song.

The class submitted its video of What I Wouldn鈥檛 Do to CBC Music and a panel of three judges. In addition to the haul of instruments, the Cloverdale Clovers will receive a gold record plaque commemorating their victory.
