Television home-renovation personalities are eager and willing to fix up 24 Sussex Drive, the official residence deemed to be too drafty and rundown to be occupied by prime minister-designate Justin Trudeau and his family. We say let them have at it and let the country watch while they do it.

Bryan Baeumler, host of a battery of HGTV renovation shows, has received several inquiries about doing a makeover for Canada鈥檚 most famous address. He says he would jump at the chance.

Mike Holmes, star of the reality show Holmes on Homes, told his Facebook followers he鈥檇 be willing to get involved. 鈥淪ay the word and we鈥檒l grab our tools!鈥 he wrote.

Why not? The house is managed by the National Capital Commission, but it鈥檚 essentially owned by the taxpayers. Justin Trudeau could don hard hat and tool belt and tear out a few walls. Who better to point out the drafts, the squeaky floors, worn carpets and leaking ceilings than someone who has lived there?

His family could offer suggestions for decor and amenities. This would give us a chance to see what the prime minister鈥檚 residence looks like, and we would get to know the prime ministerial family better.

The makeover could be centred on using 91原创 products and expertise 鈥 certainly, 91原创 companies would be eager to participate.

As a reality TV show, this would be a runaway hit. It could even revive the flagging fortunes of the CBC, thus fulfilling one of Trudeau鈥檚 promises.
