About a dozen people were waiting Monday for the doors to open at Pic-a-Flic Video on Pandora Avenue to snap up their favourite titles.

The outlet, which has been renting videos for four decades, is closing at the end of the month and has launched a month-long sale of its 25,000-plus titles.

The video- and DVD-rental business specialized in offering a wide range of titles and television shows, many unavailable elsewhere.

Titles include French, British, science-fiction, cult, musical and family movies and documentaries.

Pic-a-Flic opened in 1983 and was based in Cook Street Village until moving to Stadacona Centre five years ago.

Owner Kent Bendall, who bought the business seven years ago, had hoped to find one buyer to take the entire collection but that did not happen.

The sale continues to the end of the month, when the store’s lease ends.

Between Aug. 28 and Sept. 3, all titles are $40. The following week, the price drops to $30, followed by $20 the next week, and more discounts the final week.
