Victoria International Jewish Film Festival

Abulele - A new family-oriented Israeli film playing in the Victoria International Jewish Film Festival. Sunday, Nov. 19, at 1:30 PM. Roxy Theatre

The Victoria International Jewish Film Festival, which begins this weekend, has arranged a special screening on Sunday afternoon of the new Israeli film, Abulele, which can be described as Israel’s answer to ET: The Extra-Terrestrial. The film, an adventure feature, is a wonderful commentary on the excitement, mystery, and also the uncertainties of childhood. It was an official selection of TIFF-Kids last year in Toronto.

When: This coming Sunday, Nov. 19, at 1:30 PM

Where: At the Roxy Theatre,

Who: For kids 10+ (younger kids might find some content scary: a large, but kind, monster; police chases; etc.)

Tickets available: We hope lots of kids and youth will be able to attend this very fun film that also carries a positive social message about self-acceptance.

All children and youth who attend will get a free VIJFF t-shirt and other treats. Special reduced ticket prices for kids!

Synposis: Ancient legends warn Israeli children about the Abuleles — enormous, furry and sometimes dangerous monsters able to hide amongst humans by making themselves invisible except to special children who are in need of a friend. In this heartfelt family film, Adam, a young boy dealing with the death of his older brother, discovers an Abulele living in the basement of his building. But when Adam realizes that it is not the Abulele but thoughtless humans who are the real monsters, he risks everything to save his friendly giant.
