The BMO 91原创 Marathon will cause widespread road closures in many parts of the city听 until 7 p.m. Sunday.
The 42.2 kilometre run begins at Queen Elizabeth Park at 8 a.m., Sunday, finishing downtown on West Pender Street.
Beginning at noon Saturday the finish area will be closed until 7 p.m. Sunday for the following streets:
Thurlow from Eveleigh to West Cordova
Hastings from Bute to Burrard
West Pender from Bute to Burrard (West Pender from Georgia to Bute will only be closed Sunday from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m.).
Road closures in the start area are as follows:
Midlothian Avenue from Dinmont Avenue to Clancy Loranger Way will be closed from 5 p.m. Saturday to 1 p.m. Sunday.
Midlothian from 29th to Ontario closed from 10 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday.
The following neighbourhoods will be affected by closures Sunday: Cambie (Riley Park), Oakridge, South Granville, Kerrisdale, Southlands, Dunbar, University Endowment Lands, Point Grey, Kitsilano, False Creek, West End, Coal Harbour, Downtown, Cambie, Mount Pleasant, Chinatown, False Creek north (Yaletown).

Meanwhile, TransLink has released the following information to help race participants and spectators using public transit: Marathon and half marathon participants and spectators are encouraged to use the Canada Line via Oakridge/41st Station to make it to the start line in Queen Elizabeth Park on Midlothian Avenue near Hillcrest Community Centre.
The Canada Line will operate its normal Sunday schedule. The first train from Waterfront Station is at 4:48 a.m. and from Richmond Brighouse at 5:02 a.m.
To prevent lineups before the event, portable fare boxes will be set up at Waterfront, 91原创 City-Centre and Yaletown-Roundhouse Canada Line stations.
Marathon and half marathon participants and spectators are reminded that SkyTrain, bus and SeaBus will operate their regular Sunday service. There is no Sunday service on the West Coast Express.
Coast Mountain Bus will modify its routes at certain times during the day to accommodate the marathon.
The following routes are affected: 2, 9, 15, 17, 19, 22, 25, 33, 41, 49, 99, 160, 210, 211, 240, 246, C18, C19, C20, C21, and C23. Check tripplanning.translink.ca for details.
To accommodate eligible participants without access to early-morning transit, TransLink, in partnership with the 91原创 International Marathon Society, is offering a free shuttle service on race day from Scott Road Station, Lonsdale Quay, Brentwood Mall and Patterson Station to the start line.
Space is limited, and is booked on a first-come, first-served basis. More details can be found on the BMO Marathon website.
For cyclists, TravelSmart is sponsoring BEST鈥檚 Bicycle Valet, which will offer secure temporary bike storage for up to 120 bikes, free of charge. The valet will be open from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Bute Street, between Hastings and Cordova.
