A man has been transported to hospital after a glider crashed into an apartment complex near the municipal airport in Langley Sunday morning.
The single-seat glider appears to have been heading to the airport to land when it clipped a tree and crashed down on the roof of the two-storey building.
Shortly after the crash, area resident Petko Ganachev, went to the scene and saw emergency staff loading a middle-aged man into an ambulance.
鈥淗e seems to be OK,鈥 he said of the victim who was taken away in a stretcher.
Ganachev said Langley residents living in the 208 Avenue and 57 Street area often see gliders precariously low as they approach the airport.
鈥淚t is fairly common for them to come in that low,鈥 he said. 鈥淭hey were 20 or 30 seconds from the airport.鈥
Damage to the apartment rooftop is not extensive.
鈥漈he damage seems minimal,鈥 he said.
