Men’s 15km Freestyle Final — Alex Harvey, Saint-Ferreol-les-Neiges, Que., finished seventh (34:19.4). It was Canada’s best Olympic result to date. Graeme Killick, Fort McMurray, Alta., finished 38th (36:23.3); Knute Johnsgaard, Whitehorse, finished 69th (37:48.5); Devon Kershaw, Sudbury, Ont., finished 71st (38:01.5).
CURLING
Women — Rachel Homan, Ottawa, and her rink to begin the tournament after a 9-8 loss to Denmark in an extra end. .
Men — Kevin Koe, Edmonton, defeated South Korea 7-6. The victory and are tied with Sweden for first place.
FIGURE SKATING
Men — Patrick Chan, Toronto, was in with a score of 90.01; Keegan Messing, Sherwood Park, Alta., was in 10th with 85.11. Both have qualified for the free skate on Saturday.
SKELETON
Men’s Final — Kevin Boyer, Sherwood Park, Alta., finished with an overall ranking of 17th (3:25.40) after his third and fourth runs; Dave Greszczyszyn, Brampton, Ont., finished 21st (2:34.61); and Barrett Martineau, Calgary, finished 24th (2:35.40). Both were eliminated after their third runs.
Women’s Individual — Elisabeth Vathje, Calgary, won the second run and set a track record of 52.01 seconds. In her first run, Vathje ranked 12th (52.45). She is in eighth place (1:44.46) heading into runs three and four on Saturday. , North 91Ô´´, B.C., is in 11th (1:44.70); Mirela Rahneva, Ottawa, is 13th (1:44.81).

Men’s Individual — Large Hill — Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes, Calgary, is in 25th after the qualification round (102.4). He has qualified for the final on Saturday.

Women’s Snowboard Cross Final — Tess Critchlow, Kelowna, B.C., finished third in the small final and ninth overall. , Comox, B.C., finished fourth in her quarter-final heat and did not advance.
