A man was confronted at knifepoint near the Galloping Goose trail in Colwood early Thursday, and West Shore RCMP are looking into whether it鈥檚 connected to two similar robberies in August.

The victim was walking along the footbridge across from the Galloping Goose trail near Belmont Road and Kuper Avenue at 12:26 a.m. when he was approached by a man riding a bike, said West Shore RCMP spokeswoman Const. Nancy Saggar.

The man brandished a knife and demanded the victim鈥檚 wallet. The victim called 911 and did not turn over his wallet. The robber rode away on the trail toward Sooke Road in the direction of Denny鈥檚 Restaurant.

Officers attended the scene, but could not find the suspect. He is described as a Caucasian male with fair skin, 20 to 30-years-old with a slim build and stubble on his face. He stood about five-feet-10 to five-feet-11 inches tall and was wearing jeans, a grey shirt and a black baseball cap on backwards and carrying a black backpack. He was riding a black BMX bike.

The description, including the BMX bike, is similar to that for the suspect in two other robberies in Langford, on Aug. 30 and Aug. 31.

On Aug. 30, a man tried to to rob another man walking in the 700-block of Peat Road in Langford about 11 p.m. About an hour later, at 12:11 a.m. Aug. 31, West Shore RCMP received a report that a man armed with a knife demanded the wallet of a victim who was in the parking lot near the Original Joes restaurant at the West Shore Town Centre on Phipps Road in Langford. The robber took off with the wallet and cycled toward Langford Parkway.

West Shore RCMP is continuing this investigation along with two similar reports of robberies that took place earlier this week. We have canvassed the area at all three scenes and have received tips from the public,鈥 Saggar said in a statement. 鈥淲e continue to follow up on leads, however, no arrests have been made at this time and the suspect is still outstanding.

Anyone with information on any of the three robberies is asked to contact West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264 or report anonymously through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477.
