Nanaimo musicians will be getting together on Sunday to pay tribute to studio wizard Jerry Paquette.
The outdoor fundraising show takes place 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 3434 Seacloud in Saltair.
For several years, Island songwriters have been supported and blessed by the musician and friend at Raincoast Studio. Paquette has given of his heart and time over and over by recording and mentoring local musicians and songwriters, up and coming bands and many private projects.
Paquette, is also the founder of the Island Songwriter's group-- a monthly opportunity for local songwriters to get together to share and support one another in their craft. Over the past several years he has donated his engineering sound services to the community in many forms and venues including the Silly Boat races and other local benefits.
This musician's friend is now moving towards building a new studio and organizers of the fundraiser want to help give back. A fundraising concert featuring Gary Fjellgaard, Ken Hamm, Donna Konsorado, Gerry Barnum, Alicken Hue, Some guy and a gal and Jerry's own daughter Alyse and other special guests will perform. Tickets are $20 at the gate and $15 in advance at Music Maxx and Fascinating Rhythm.
