Skipper Bill Norrie hopped off his yacht, Pixie, at the Victoria Yacht Club on Thursday after completing a solo circumnavigation of the world.
The Calgary man embarked on the trip on his 28-foot Bristol Channel Cutter yacht from Port Renfrew on Sept. 1, 2019, with the goal of sailing all of the Southern Ocean beneath the world鈥檚 five southernmost capes.
The challenges he faced included a huge wave in April that destroyed the boat鈥檚 electrical equipment and temporarily prevented him from communicating with the outside world.
