Next week, music fans in Nanaimo have a chance to hear international recording artist Eric Dozier, the former arranger of the Harlem Gospel Choir.

Dozier and the One Human Family Gospel are scheduled to perform 7 p.m. next Friday at St. Andrews United Church, at the corner of Fitzwilliam and Wesley. The show, a presentation of the Nanaimo Blues Society and the Downtown Nanaimo Partnership is a fundraiser for the church.

St. Andrews -- one of Nanaimo's oldest heritage buildings -- needs substantial funds to begin extensive repairs.

Helen Hunter, president of the board for St. Andrews United Church is thrilled that the church will be the recipient of this benefit.

"This is one of the most amazing buildings in Nanaimo, a heritage site that is in desperate need of restoration," Hunter said.

The Eric Dozier Concert and the One Human Family Gospel Choir will be held at 311 Fitzwilliam St. church on Dec. 8. Tickets are $15 and are available at Falconer Book Store, Port Place Shopping Centre, McLean's Specialty Foods, 426 Fitzwilliam St., Music Maxx, 260A Comox St. and Fascinating Rhythm, 51 Commercial St.
