Ladysmith concert series boasts big line up this year

The annual Music in the Park 2006 concert series in Ladysmith has a line-up of entertainers that surpasses all previous years. Each concert takes place in the outdoor amphitheatre in Transfer Beach Park, Ladysmith at 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The annual Music in the Park 2006 concert series in Ladysmith has a line-up of entertainers that surpasses all previous years.

Each concert takes place in the outdoor amphitheatre in Transfer Beach Park, Ladysmith at 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays July 23, 30 and August 13, 20 and 27. The concerts are organized by Ladysmith Resources Centre Association (LRCA).

There is a new twist to the series this year. Local multimedia and fine artists have been invited to set up their tents and demonstrate and sell their art.

Listed below is the line-up of musicians and dates.

July 30 -- Naden Band & 91原创 Scottish Regiment Pipes and Drums. The multi-talented members of the Naden Band perform as a symphony band, a choreographed marching band as well as several smaller bands such as reception bands, jazz and dance ensembles, Dixieland and brass and woodwind quintets. They have been delighting Island listeners for decades. This event is in celebration of Tom Beames.

If raining, it will be held in the Aggie Hall, downtown Ladysmith.

Aug. 13 -- Saidi Sisters d'Nile Belly Dancers and Ambiance. The belly dancers will be dancing with 10 or so members of their group. Ambiance are a group of musicians who play jazz, classical and folk that brings you to another place and time.

Aug. 20 -- Ken Hamm and Theo Massop. Ken Hamm is a well-known Ladysmith musician is an award winning acoustic blues guitarist, folk singer and songwriter. Theo Massop, a singer, songwriter and entertainer has a unique range of music is loved by audiences.

Aug. 27-- The Flying Accusations. A local group of musicians playing folk, gospel and old-time tunes from country rock to Bob Dylan. They have a vast repertoire of songs and interact with the audience.
