Comox Valley RCMP seek witnesses to Cumberland stabbing

Comox Valley RCMP are investigating a stabbing in Cumberland on Saturday afternoon. Around noon, witnesses called 911 to report that a 32-year-old man had been stabbed on Dunsmuir Avenue.

Around noon, witnesses called 911 to report that a 32-year-old man had been stabbed on Dunsmuir Avenue. Police officers, arriving at the scene, found witnesses providing first aid to the victim. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

鈥淭he victim was unable to provide investigators with very much information before he was taken by emergency health services to receive medical attention,鈥 said Const. Monika Terragni, Comox Valley RCMP media relations officer.

The investigation is in its very early stages, but investigators do not believe this incident was random,鈥 she said.

The Mounties are asking people who were in the area to review their dashcam footage, home security footage, or commercial business surveillance during the time leading up to the attack.

Investigators from the Comox Valley RCMP major crime unit, the street crime unit and forensic identification officers are still searching the area for evidence.
