They've sung throughout Asia, Europe and the USA -- now the Waratah Girls Choir is coming to Nanaimo.
On July 12, 7:30 p.m., the internationally-acclaimed choir will be giving a concert at the Evangelistic Tabernacle, 1300 Princess Royal Ave.
Sponsored by Nanaimo's Malaspina Choir, the 35-member choral group is visiting the city following its appearance at the International Choral Kathaumixw in Powell River.
This is the second time the choir has attended Kathaumixw; in 2000 they placed first in the Youth Choir competition.
Renowned for the beauty of their sound and the energy and professionalism of their performances, the Waratah Girls Choir has made seven CDS.
Next year the choir will perform at Carnegie Hall with the New England Symphonic Ensemble.
Choir director Wynette Horne has been involved in musical concerts and productions all her life, and is a recipient of the order of Australia.
Her vocation, she says, is to encourage, develop and nurture the characters of young people through music.
Tickets are $12 for adults, and are available at Falconer Books, Arbutus Music, and at the door.
