Do you live in the municipality where you are running, and if so, for how long? If not, what is your connection to that community?
Yes, I live in the Electoral Area where I am running. I have lived here for more than 9 years.
What is your occupation, and for how long?
I am a Chief Administrative Officer and have been for about 20 years.
Tell us about your previous elected and/or community experience.
I was a city councilor in Airdrie AB in the late 1980s and am the incumbent in Electoral Area A in the Regional District of Nanaimo.
Why are you running? What’s your motivation?
I want to improve the quality of life in our rural area. Specifically, I want to work to improve housing options in our region, both in terms of affordability and variety of housing options.
What are your top three issues?
Housing, Safe Communities and Hospital service improvements
What’s your vision for your community in 25 years?
Our region will be a rural area with a small village centre that provides necessities for our residents. We will have a variety of recreational options and will take advantage of the active transportation corridors to get from one place to another on foot, bicycle or other small conveyance.
What’s one “big idea” you have for your community?
Improve the housing options available to young people and young familes, whether it is renting or purchasing. I am optimistic that this can be accomplished.
