“Jobs, jobs, jobs,” said Prime Minister Justin Trudeau when expressing his concern about potential loss of some jobs in Canada. The problem is, he is more concerned about 9,000 jobs in a crooked company in Quebec than he is, or ever was, about 20,000-plus jobs lost in Alberta.
This narrow focus, fostered by fiscal cronyism (a practice honed into a fine skill by many Liberal governments) makes the current government less acceptable as the voice for the whole country.
My assessment of Trudeau’s major priorities is: First, his personal self-image; second, the Liberal Party; and third, the country of Canada. Let us hope the fiasco brewing in Ottawa over SNC-Lavalin will bring this realization to many, many more 91ԭs.
