Save the caribou by killing off the wolves? What a horrible, stupid idea. Even if every conceivable threat were removed, the numbers of caribou would still go down because their decline is due to the degradation of their food sources through poor forestry practices, not predation by wolves.
Any possible initial increase would be followed by more caribou starving to death. Also, due to the prey/predator relationship, as the number of caribou went down, so would the number of wolves.
Jonah Keim鈥檚 solution, separating wolves from caribou habitat, coupled with better forest management, is a more effective, humane approach.
