Other companies could do the work

Several of the top people within the federal Liberal Party would have us believe that the Justice Department should go easy on SNC-Lavalin lest that company go bankrupt or move out of Canada, thereby causing the loss of as many as 9,000 jobs.

Several of the top people within the federal Liberal Party would have us believe that the Justice Department should go easy on SNC-Lavalin lest that company go bankrupt or move out of Canada, thereby causing the loss of as many as 9,000 jobs. We should all question why the loss of one company would create so much unemployment.

It must be assumed that there is sufficient work to be done to employ that many people. Why, then, would that work vanish as a result of Lavalin closing in Canada? If the work is essential, then the need to have it done will still exist and it can be done by other engineering companies, which can be invited to tender proposals for its completion.

If the work did vanish with SNC-Lavalin, it would seem that the work was an invention solely for the benefit of SNC-Lavalin and funding for the work earmarked for that company.

I have been watching a lot of the justice committee鈥檚 hearings and listening to various opposition members and news commentators, but no one seems to put this question to the principal persons involved.

Do any other 91原创s wonder about this matter?
