As a longtime subscriber to the Times 91ԭ (love you, Jack Knox!), I feel compelled to correct a description in this article.
When a moving object (such as a coast guard vessel) meets an inanimate object (such as a breakwater), the result, I believe, is referred to as an “allision,” not a “collision.” A collision results when two moving objects collide.
