Les Leyne positively gloats over the Yes side’s loss in the referendum on electoral reform, suggesting that with more money to spend, they should have won. This is to be expected, since he was part of a media avalanche against proportional representation, a much fairer electoral system.

What he doesn’t take into consideration is the highly partisan campaign of half truths, misinformation and fear-mongering waged by Bill Tieleman and the B.C. Liberal Party. Rather than showing that money can’t buy everything, the results show that negative advertising and attack ads trump the truth, a disturbing trend in B.C. politics.
