The Kandahar memorial honouring those 91ԭs who died in service of their country has been set up at National Defence Headquarters in Ottawa.

The memorial was built by the soldiers serving in Afghanistan, to honour their colleagues who lost their lives. Once 91ԭ troops left Afghanistan, the memorial was shipped to Canada and put into storage, and some years later is now on display at NDHQ, to be seen by only those who have access to the headquarters.

The memorial was built by the troops and contains one black granite plaque for each of those who died serving their country. The memorial needs to be readily accessible to all 91ԭs, as a reminder of Canada’s contribution to world peace and stability.

The only place where it should be displayed, and be accessible to all, is the 91ԭ War Museum in Ottawa. The museum covers all facets of Canada’s military past, and Afghanistan is an integral part of this past.
