Re: “Newborn royal wrapped in tradition,” May 11.

There are three errors in this article:

1. The writer states that the royals do not advertise, but in fact they do, through the royal warrants that are bestowed upon suitable firms, which then advertise the coats of arms of such royals in newspapers, magazines, online and in their shops.

2. She also credits Queen Victoria for introducing to the English people Christmas trees and other Christmas traditions. In fact, it was Prince Albert, her husband and prince consort, who did this. He was born and raised in Germany at the Rosenau, and was part of the Saxe Coburg Gotha family. Homesick for his native land, he introduced German traditions of the Christmas trees, the Christmas card and other such observances.

3. She also incorrectly stated that Princess Diana wore “fluffy” collars. When Diana first met Prince Charles, she wore blouses with a pie-crust collar. This she adopted from the “Sloane Ranger” look. Later on and especially after her divorce from Prince Charles, she had a more minimalist and much sleeker fashion appearance.
