I do not see anything wrong with considering the consequences of prosecuting SNC-Lavalin. The victim in this “crime” is the possible loss of 9,000 jobs. Justice has been flexible before.
For example: Canada decided to sell armoured vehicles to Saudi Arabia, a decision made by considering the consequences of profit and job losses. The people who are condemning our prime minister for compromising the purity of our justice system should consider this.
If a man is caught stealing $1,000, he will likely go to jail. If a man swindles $10 million from investors, as long as he is wearing a white shirt and tie, not very likely. The blind lady of justice is an inspiring concept, but from a time when crime was less complicated.
