Further pipeline study a waste of time

The National Energy Board still wants more study into the effects of tanker traffic on marine life in the Salish Sea, an issue that is nothing more than a red herring.

The Trans Mountain pipeline expansion will require only one extra tanker each day, which is not significant, considering all the other marine traffic in the transportation corridor. Must we have a big study for one extra sailing?

And what about all the extra sailings for grain when there is a bumper crop on the Prairies and what about extra sailings when we have a big order for lumber or coal? Must we do studies for them, as well? If it’s such a big issue, then why not cancel one whale-watching excursion to compensate?

Also, some oil from the pipeline will go to Washington and possibly reduce the heavy Alaska tanker traffic that uses the same corridor.

It is my opinion that further study is a waste of time and serves only to delay a vitally needed project.
