The writer pointed out that perhaps the Westhills development should shoulder some of the funding for infrastructure for roads and commuting.
Why? By the time Westhills is completed, there will be more than 6,000 families paying those ridiculous (cash cow) property transfer fees, which will put about $60 million into the MLAs' pensions, severance pay or bonus packages.
Oops, I mean into general revenue. Not to mention the annual property taxes that will be gained in Langford.
For the past 40 years, I have been hearing about and seeing the highway backlog out to the western communities and our beloved government has done next to nothing to alleviate the congestion. In fact, it made the roadways narrower (but prettier) with plants and trees.
So now we should penalize the developers because the highly skilled people in government cannot do their jobs?
