The scary part of the sentence imposed by the judge is that the driver was given only a five-year driving prohibition. That is obviously inadequate, not for reasons of punishment, but for prevention.
In my opinion, a drunk driver who kills or seriously injures someone should have a lifetime driving suspension. We pay too much attention to the offender, not enough to the victim. A pedestrian walking on a sidewalk should not have to fear for his/her safety.
