April 6: Carbon tax is small price to pay

I am saddened by this writer’s concept that the carbon tax is nothing but a tax grab. Does he not realize that our planet has tipped over the edge as far as climate change is concerned and Canada is in the forefront of the changes?

Do we still have the luxury of thinking only of ourselves, or do we suck it up and work toward the common good? As parts of the world become unsustainable and mass migration is the only solution for millions of people, the few cents more we are asked to pay for a litre of gas will become moot.

The carbon tax will not stave off the effects of climate change that we are already experiencing, but we hope it will wake us up on an individual level to what is happening. B.C. has led the way with this tax, which I see as a small price to pay for encouraging me to do my bit to reduce my carbon footprint, especially as it is a neutral tax that is rebated four times a year.
