Re: 鈥淏usinessman deserves answer on refinery plan,鈥 column, April 25.

David Black鈥檚 Kitimat Clean refinery proposal should receive an answer. The recent price increases in gasoline show how vulnerable we are, as much of our supply comes from Washington state.

The project could solve the B.C.-Alberta logjam with respect to getting product to markets, and elimination of the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion could please some pipeline opponents. (I have no advice to the prime minister over his pipeline purchase.)

However, the article states: 鈥淭o be economical, refinery components would have to be built in a high-tech, low-wage Asian country.鈥 If that is true, and the numbers don鈥檛 work if the project is built by 91原创s, then our government should pass on this project and continue to support liquefied-natural-gas projects that do plan to employ 91原创 construction workers.
