The Boy Scouts of the Victoria district will again assist Santa Claus in his distribution of toys, by operating their Scout Toy Shop.
"It is hoped that everyone will again help by letting us have all the broken toys, as well as any for which they have no further use. A portion of our shop will be divided into a repair and paint department as in former years and Boy Scouts will do the work under expert supervision," says a notice issued by the Scouts.
"People having toys and wishing them called for may telephone E 6140 and someone will pick them up. In addition to this scouts will be around collecting individually, and it is hoped will meet with the fullest co-operation from the homes at which they call.
This is an inter-troop competition to see which troop is able to collect the highest number of toys.
"Last year over 10,000 toys went through the Boy Scout Toy Shop. This year we hope to get even a larger number, and to do this we need your help. And one way in which you can do this is by letting us have your toys as soon as possible, as we have a great deal of work ahead of us. And as there are only two months until Christmas we need the assistance of everyone.
"To those on the toy shop committee, there will be a meeting in the district headquarters on Monday, Oct. 29 at 8 p.m."
