A man and woman who woke up about 3 a.m. Monday to the sound of their pickup truck being started got a quick response after calling Saanich police.
The two heard the truck's engine in the driveway and immediately called 911. By that time, it was being driven away from their home on Earl Grey Street, near Gorge Road and Harriet Road. Within 10 minutes, a Saanich patrol officer spotted the truck being driven slowly down Blanshard Street, toward downtown. A Victoria officer helped pull over the vehicle near the Douglas and Hillside intersection. A 32-year-old Saanich man faces charges of theft, possession of stolen property and driving while prohibited. -
