West Shore RCMP are trying to find the person who stabbed a 22-year-old man but are having trouble because of a reluctant victim. The victim stumbled into the Shell gas station on Spencer Road about 2 a.m. on Aug. 4 with cuts to his face, a ripped shirt, missing a shoe and his hands tied together with zap straps, said RCMP spokesman Sgt. Max Fossum. The man asked for scissors to cut himself free. The clerk called West Shore RCMP, who picked up the man but released him after he refused to say who assaulted him.At 8:30 p.m. that evening, West Shore RCMP was called by Victoria General Hospital staff who said the same man had come in with a stab wound to the abdomen. Paramedics had picked him up at Spencer Road and the Trans-Canada Highway.Police attended the hospital, but the victim again refused to talk about the stabbing, Fossum said.Investigators are unsure when or where the attack happened. RCMP have not said whether the attack was drug-related but Fossum said the Victoria man is known to police. Anyone with information about the attack is asked to call West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264.
